My body of work explores complex human emotions as portrayed through bold color usage and gestural mark making. Working predominantly in mixed media with a base of acrylic paint, I capture moments of intense feeling and place them on the canvas. Working quickly with loose brush strokes, I first leave behind the idea of perfection focusing on the feeling of creating in the moment. After the initial painting has set, with a calmer and more controlled application I then go back in to create precise line work.
